Chocolate

Tom and Monica Rogan, of Sudbury, first discovered craft chocolate in, of all places, a vintage furniture shop in Los Angeles. The incredible flavors they tasted in those bars completely changed how they thought about chocolate. It started them on a journey to become single origin chocolate makers.

By using single origin chocolate, the Rogans use cacao beans sourced from only one farm or region to highlight the distinct flavor characteristics of that particular bean. They have spent a lot of time on farms throughout Latin America searching for the most flavorful beans. By developing direct relationships with the farmers who grow and harvest the beans, they are able to ensure that they are fairly compensated and that the farming practices being used are sustainable.

All of Goodnow Farms Bars are made at Tom and Monica’s 225-year-old farm in Sudbury, MA. They start with cacao beans and sugar, and perform every step of the chocolate making process in-house, including carefully hand wrapping each bar. The process is extremely time consuming and labor intensive, but they believe the experience of eating the chocolate makes it all worthwhile.

Monica and Tom conclude, “We’re very proud of our chocolate, and we hope you enjoy eating it as much as we do making it.”
