LYNSEY VANDERBECK

POTTERY

Two years ago, Lynsey re-discovered her love of pottery. She uses mainly porcelain clay which she hand builds into small dishes, chimes, mirrors, bird baths and ornaments. Throwing mugs and bowls on the pottery wheel is another favorite technique. Most pieces have a quirky addition of a bird or ladybug.  “This is just another medium where I can play with color, but I love the functionality of pottery. Making something cheerful out of a lump of clay! Such fun!” says Lynsey

Lynsey grew up near the vineyards on the Long Island Sound in New York. She attended The Art Institute of Boston for part of her higher education. “The name "Sweetest Hue" came naturally because I love colors and I love our son, Hugh!” says Lynsey. He is the sweetest, best person I know.” She works out of her studio in her Circa 1723 home in Rhode Island.  Lynsey is a firm believer in shopping locally and buying handmade.

In addition to pottery, Lynsey makes hand-painted children’s clothing and creates upcycled fingerless gloves.
