Wayne Bunker

Woodworking

Wayne has been working with wood since seventh grade shop class in Conway, New Hampshire. Early projects were speaker enclosures, simple tables and wooden toys. He started making wooden signs in the early 80’s and continued making them for 40 years while earning a living as a Facilities Engineer at IBM in East Fishkill, NY.

In the early nineties he started wood turning on a second hand ShopSmith. Early items were table lamps and a few crude bowls for family and friends. After retiring in 2022 he started production turning of French style rolling pins and began making bowls and platters. The purchase of a new lathe in the fall of 2022 allowed him to make larger bowls, platters and wooden lidded boxes. Recently, he took classes with a studio turner in Poughkeepsie, NY and is learning hollow form and decorative turning. He lives in Beekman, NY with his wife Pam and their two cats Jacob and Marley.
