Playful Mark Making: Wet and Dry

The teacher for this class, Diana Griffin (pronouns: they/them), has been selling their pottery at Five Crows for many years. Within the last year, we were excited to add their 2D mixed-media art to the store too! Diana is excited to share the art process they have been enjoying.

Day 1 - Wet Play: We will loosely explore moving wet color on a large sheet of watercolor paper, with different materials, seeing what happens without judgement or planning.

Day 2 - Dry Play: We will fold and tear our large sheets into manageable smaller sections, then explore dry mark-making on top of the initial painting.

In this two-part class, you might experience joy, appreciate meeting new people, and leave with some (or lots) of finished pieces to gift or frame.

Materials will be provided, but if you want to bring anything to add or experiment with, feel free!  E.g. Diana has printed with a banana peel before (discovering a cool texture), and painted with sticks and Stinging Nettle fiber that they processed! They often like to use quotes and words in their art; you can bring any of your favorite tools, quote/words, that you might want to use.
