SAM NELSON

Ceramic lanterns

The soft gold light of a lantern invokes a mood that is clay, peaceful, comforting and inviting. Creating that mood, and designing objects of balance and beauty, are the underlying inspirations for Sam Nelson’s hand-built lanterns. Each lantern is a one-of-a-kind design inspired by nature, cross-cultural motifs, and architectural elements, and they can be used inside or out.

Sam has been making pottery for about 15 years, following careers as an academic and in landscape. He works at home, and for the Community Kiln at Brick Stack Arts Center in Framingham. He currently lives in Sherborn with his husband and two black labs.
