Francis Gillespie, Knitted and Felted Creations
Frances is a local fiber artist in Sudbury producing handknit, felted,
animal sculptures and knitwear. Her interest in knitting goes back 40 years.
She learned how to knit from her friend’s mother when she was in high
school in Santa Barbara, CA. About 20 years ago, she became fascinated with the process of turning knitted fiber into three dimensional creations. She wanted to knit the unusual, weird, and unloved creatures that nobody else thinks of doing.
Frances has two adult children, three cats and two dogs. She had a career in biotech for almost 20 years. Most recently, she has been working in various Minuteman Libraries in circulation, which she loves as a second career.
