Dan Wiener
Pottery
Dan has produced, exhibited, and sold handmade ceramic objects for more than 50 years. Since 1971, he has worked in Worcester, New Mexico, Boston, and Newton. He taught ceramic techniques to individuals of all ages and abilities at various art centers, and has continually displayed his work in galleries, retail outlets, and craft fairs.
All stoneware pieces are fired to Cone 6 (2232° F) and are lead-free, dishwasher-safe, waterproof, and safe to use with food. They are fine to use in a microwave, but not in an oven or over an open flame.
Dan developed a community craft center in Worcester in the 1980’s and worked in the arts with inner-city youth. More recently, he worked as an administrator for the Dept. of Education to spearhead assessments for students with significant disabilities. Dan received four separate awards from the Governor for this work over the past 20 years. The work has been hailed by the U. S. Dept. of Education as a national model for teaching students with significant disabilities.
