LYN BATES

QUILTER

“I intend my creations to be beautiful, useful and matching popular taste as things to own, or to give as gifts.” Lyn says. Her mother taught her to sew. She had a long technical career, retired, and became a quilter when she wanted a wall hanging for a particular spot. Lessons and workshops followed.

Lyn became a volunteer docent at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell where the changing museum exhibits are an inspiration for her, as well as a challenge. “I am inspired by all the quilters that have come before me, especially the modern art quilters. I try to make what I make visually interesting. I never use the same fabric twice.”
