Jane Parsons

Fine Art

Jane Parsons is passionate about the emotive quality color plays in her oil paintings, creating depth through layering, textures, and unexpected composition. Her paintings create a sense of place through inspiration from nature. She works to instill comfort, joy and wonder in connecting with common experiences. Most importantly, what drives her vision is the feeling when viewing a painting.

She began her career in design and received her degree in visual arts/illustration from UMASS Dartmouth. Since 2000, she has transitioned into oil painting and has studied at the DeCordova and Danforth Museum Schools, Medicine Wheel Studios, Mass Art and Smithsonian continuing education.

She has been on two painting retreats to San Gimignano, Italy which provided much inspiration for her landscapes. From a very early age, oil paints intrigued her - the richness of color, the texture, the smell and the patience needed to work with them. Recently she began to incorporate cold wax medium into the oils. This has allowed much exploration, opening new possibilities with layering and texture. Jane primarily uses palette knives and tools in her work. Jane’s work is in private collections throughout the US, has exhibited in many local venues and galleries, is a member of many local art associations and enjoys donating her work to various charities. Her studio is located in downtown Hudson, MA in the historic Oddfellows Building at 14 Main Street, Suite 5.
