Story of The Crows
Where
does all this talent come from?
When we first opened Five Crows, over five years ago,
we started off with the work of the Five Crows only. Over five years ago,
on February 5th 2002 we had our grand opening! Friends, family and the
community were so supportive and encouraging. At the end of the evening we
were looking at empty shelves that a few hours ago were full with our work.
We looked at each other and said, “we need to bring in more artists and
artisans”.
That evening , many of our friends and fellow artists and artisans were
there in support of our bold venture. Some of them were whispering in our
ears, “let me know when you start taking in other artists”. I think they
knew before were did, that we were expanding on our first day of being open!
On the last Friday of every month (except in December) the
five of us meet and jury the work of artisans that have so graciously
brought their work into us. We look at several things before accepting
their work: quality of the craftsmanship, how creative and original is the
work, and how well we can display it.
So, virtually every month, you can be assured, that there is something new
and different at Five Crows! Stop by and have a look for yourself.
