Sara Petipas combines wheel working and hand building to create functional and decorative ceramic work inspired by the beauty and whimsy of her ordinary surroundings.

The artist's bold, unique glaze combinations contrasted with exposed, clay patterns give the work a natural warmth which she feels honors the integrity of the medium and at the same time relays her own unique vision.

Sara began working in clay at the Potters Place co-op in Walpole, MA in 1992. This experience lead her to continue her art education.  First at the School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA where she studied under ceramists Mark Cooper and Mary Rutger. Sara then furthered her education at Massachusetts College of Art  where she got a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in ceramics in 1998. In 1992 Sara founded On The Cusp Pottery and has exhibited in local arts festivals, small galleries and gift stores
