I began experimenting with concrete and rocks several years ago in an attempt to replicate a stone that had naturally eroded to form a basin. My desire was to create a birdbath that would seem to have possibly been formed by nature, and that would also enhance the natural New England landscape when placed in it as a garden ornament. I am very excited to be selected as a “Garden in the Woods” artist this year. I have painted in oils and designed things for most of my adult life. My landscapes and lichen paintings have recently been displayed at the Wellesley College Botanic Gardens, The Broadmoor Audubon Sanctuary, The Natick Community Organic Garden Gallery, and the Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn N.H. Additionally, I was co-owner and lead designer for Clothware, a women’s clothing shop (still located) in Harvard Square, for most of the 1970’s. I designed and built my own home in Sherborn in 1989. You can find me there sculpting cement with rocks on most temperate spring mornings.
