Ginger McEachern

Ginger McEachern, one of the Five Crows and a local artist from Natick, came to her current work after dabbling in many different professions. Ginger was a full-time teacher, a computer artist, and a graphic designer.  She has now come back to her passion to create and work as a full-time artist. Ginger works out of her studio on 3 Adams Street in Natick Center. “I am blessed to share my studio with great, creative friends and two happy Labrador retrievers.”

Ginger’s passion has always been paper! Her art includes beautiful functional and decorative boxes, hand-sewn journals, a line of paper jewelry, bookmarks and more! Ginger begins by using the 16th century method of decorating papers known as paste painting. Paste papers are colorful hand painted or glazed paper sheets. These are then cut and folded around hand-built archival quality book board boxes. Layers are built up to create the base and top for the boxes. Ginger enjoys searching for the perfect knobs and feet for the boxes. Each one is unique—a special treasure!  All of Ginger’s journals are also decorated with her vibrant paste papers. Along with a line of map boxes, she is also adding boxes wrapped in wine label paper (the labels collected on a trip to France) and fortune cookie sayings to her line!

Although her passion is paper Ginger also enjoys working with wire making sculptures, including fish that drip with sea glass, beetles for your garden made from New England beach stones and wire, jewelry from shell buttons, scrabble game pieces and sea glass. She creates all of the hand made cards and gift tags for Five Crows using a variety of materials including her hand-made paste papers.

Ginger gets great joy from her art and it shows! Her pieces are unique and  whimsical. “I hope to continue to grow as an artist but feel I am closer to my true calling than I have ever been before in my life!  It is truly exciting and fun!” says Ginger.
