Doug Hansel I studied t Much of my work is influenced by Ironstone ceramics from the 1850's, the work of European silversmiths, and the human form. Nature and modern glassware also play a part in my design aesthetics. Some of the things I love/hate about working with clay is the challenge of it. Having so many variables with a flexible material and differing kiln conditions, each piece becomes a gift and surprise. The glazes I choose to work with require exact application and firing. It is thru this process that makes each piece unique.
