Dave Eaton
David Eaton - Dave lives
in Natick, MA and has been a wood-worker since his early
years in his father’s shop. His current passion is wood-turning using a lathe, which
he embarked on several years ago. Dave says he especially enjoys the extreme
flexibility working a lathe allows when creating his artifacts. It permits him
to impart his own personality into every unique piece of wood, more intensely than
that which traditional woodworking methods allow.
Every raw piece of wood he starts with, be it a log or a plank he says, can be
shaped a one of a kind item worthy of the beautiful tree it was harvested from.
Presently, Dave focuses his engineering talent on
creating a variety of objects
and forms, from pens to bowls to whirligigs to birdhouses
and hollow-forms, often working closely with his wife Laurie. He has received
guidance and instruction from the best local authorities and presently markets
his work through a few select shops, galleries and exhibits. Dave is active in
the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, Weston Arts
& Crafts Assoc., American Association of Woodturners, Central New England
Woodturners, Ocean State Woodturners and is a past Vice-President of the
Association of Revolutionary
Woodturners, now serving on the Board of Directors.
