Sue Pelletier

Words, whimsy and humor inspire my art because that is how I approach life, certainly not as a laugh track but for goodness sake there is a chuckle in just about everything. I have always been drawn to collage and painterly surfaces, so to me it is a natural progression that my art evolves into a combination of both. I work with the house form because as an artist and a mom, it is what I hold near and dear, my kids and the day to day journey of life.  I use found objects and old wood in my work because I love the history and the sense of purpose in each piece. I could use plywood to build a house surface, but why when I can find an old game board or door and cut that up instead! Let's just say I am very excited about old Monopoly pieces. I am always on the hunt at yard sales and flea markets for that imperfect piece to combine into my art.

I have taught elementary school art in Dover, MA for 16 years. The spontaneity and expression in children's art has always been an inspiration. I have a BA from Saint Michaels College in Vermont and an MFA from the Pratt Institute in New York.
