A textile artist working primarily in silk, Phyllis has enjoyed working with fabric and design since her teen years. Enjoying creativity in all its forms - as long as it involved color – Phyllis has always found time for art classes, including drawing, oil painting and watercolor technique. She enrolled at area art schools, community colleges and local universities as she relocated with her husband and daughters from Ohio to New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and finally settled in Framingham, MA. Since 1996 she has focused on painting on silk; using her color sense, design and watercolor skills on the most unpredictable ‘canvas’ she has found. Phyllis has studied with respected silk artists Susan Louise Moyer, Jan Janis, Rosanna Czarnecki, Karen Sistek and Natasha Foucoult. She was invited to participate in the Silk Painters International exhibit Asian Art, Botanicals on Silk, at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, DC in 2001 and has been juried into regional art exhibits including Bedford Art for the Arts 2003 and Holliston Mill Open Studio in 2005. Phyllis enjoys creating elegant silk scarves, framed fine art and Judaica. Phyllis also teaches classes..
